A classroom setting for dealers who need to recertify their Dealer Operator License. There is not study materials needed prior to the class. Everything you will be tested on will be taught and discussed in class. Do not hesitate to ask questions if you are unsure of a topic or need additional explanations.
To check your due date, click the following link: https://mvdb.virginia.gov/wp-content/uploads/DocumentLibrary/DealerOperatorDeadlineDates.pdf Motor Vehicle Dealer Board will notify dealers of their due dates 90, 60, and 30 days prior. Please make sure the MVDB has the most up-to-date contact information for you and your dealership.
The following highlights the primary changes of the new law vs. the prior regulation:
- Independent dealer-operators will recertify every 24 months, instead of every 36 months.
- The dealer-operator recertification course will be instructor-led (in-person or virtual) for 4 hours in duration instead of 6 hours digitally.
- An exam will be given at the conclusion of the course instead of after each “chapter”.
- The Motor Vehicle Dealer Board fee for recertification will increase to $50.00 instead of $25.00 and will be collected by the vendor at time of registration.
